Canyoning Adventure at Fosso della Mola

Give yourself a day of sport, fun and nature less than80 km from Rome. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse yourself in the green heart of Italy, where the wild nature offers a thousand opportunities to amaze us with its evocative scenery.

With this canyoning descent to the Fosso della Mola, you will venture into a gorge to cross between slides carved into the rock, rope descents and dives from walls up to 12 metres high into the pure waters of the Salto river, in the province of Rieti.

If you are among the few who are still unfamiliar with canyoning, you should know that it is a exploratory practice of river areas. It consists of traversing the course of mountain streams, overcoming all the ruggedness of the pristine environment and the gullies carved by the incessant flow of water. You will skirt cascades, abseil down rock faces or dive from spurs into the crystal-clear pools created by the river in some places.

A fun without limits and within everyone's reach, an activity carried out in the company of an expert guide and also suitable for first-time visitors. You can't miss it!

What we will do

We will meet at 10:00 in Casette, in the province of Rieti. We will meet the guide and, after handing over the equipment and getting dressed, we will set off towards the Balzi di Grotti, an area famous for its many falesias full of climbing routes.

After about 40 minutes of walking in the Valley of the Salto River, a place dominated by nature and its lush greenery, we arrive at the Fosso della Mola, which owes its name to the remains of an old mill that we encounter right at the start of the route. Before starting the canyoning route proper, we will have a briefing on progression techniques and safety rules. And then, off to adventure!

From the first few metres, stretches with shallow water will alternate with deep pools, where it is necessary to dive up to the neck (if the water flow is substantial). As we progress, we will notice that nature becomes thicker and wilder and the gorge narrows, becoming more and more vertical.

There the most sensational section will begin, with slides, dives and waterfalls. The highest one we will encounter will be 12 metres and will test us with a rope climb that is truly spectacular! Then, still surrounded by waterfalls and rivulets of water, we will continue the route in an environment that is, to say the least, awe-inspiring, until we reach an amusing passage through a cave and a swim across a crystal-clear pool.

The activity lasts a total of4 hours, but the time taken to complete the route may vary depending on the flow rate and the number of participants. Upon exiting the canyon, it only takes 5 minutes to walk back to our cars, where we will return our equipment, share the most exciting moments of the experience and say goodbye until the next adventure!

Who it is aimed at

This canyoning excursion is of average level, but perfectly accessible even to novices. All persons capable of swimming can participate, from 12 to 65 years.

Other information

Warning! You must arrive at the meeting place atleast 15 minutes before the start time of the activity.

The activity takes place on weekends and public holidays from April to October and is confirmed when there are at least 4 participants. Pre-established groups of at least 4 people can book the activity on any date, provided that the environmental conditions are favourable. If you are alone or do not reach the minimum number of participants, write to us to find out which dates have already been confirmed.

Important:This activity is strong>strongly influenced by the environmental conditions of the season. The water flow is very variable and both the duration of the route and the possibility of carrying it out depend on it. Your guide will give you more information on this (if you have any other doubts, feel free to chat with us!).

There are no showers or changing rooms at the end of the activity.

Apart from the equipment needed for the activity, you cannot carry any objects or bags/backpacks, as they would get wet during the canyoning route. It is recommended to have a nutritious but light breakfast at least one hour before the activity.

There is a bar at the meeting point.
