Experience the thrills of one of the most fascinating winter sports, ice climbing, and get ready to climb real vertical ice walls in the most remote and unspoilt areas of Valmalenco, in the province of Sondrio.Together with a Alpine Guide, you will learn the basic techniques of ice climbing, discover hidden places and take your first steps in a discipline that tempers both body and mind!
This will be a day of total immersion in the environment, an opportunity to exceed your own limits and discover the infinite surprises of nature!
What we will do
We will meet at8:00 at the Alpine Guide's office inCaspoggio (SO). Here we will form the group (maximum 6 participants) and move towards one of the various ice walls present in Valmalenco or in the adjacent valleys. The guide will select the climbing spot taking into account the average level of the group and the weather conditions.
At the venue, we will begin with an introductory theoretical lecture on ice climbing, which will familiarise us with the equipment used, the basics and also a bit of history of the discipline. We will continue with the acquisition of correct motor patterns and with preparatory exercises, before moving on to the actual practical tests of climbing an ice wall.
We will use the Caruso Method, one of the foundations of ice-climbing, and throughout the day we will also devote time to the subject of safety and risk management, as well as the aspects of psychology and mental toughness, which are essential in a sport such as this.
The activity has a total duration of approximately 7 hours and includes a break for apacked lunch.
Who it is aimed at
This activity is for anyone interested in trying the discipline. It is not compulsory to have previous ice climbing or climbing experience, but you must be ingood health and have a good predisposition for physical activity. You can participate from 16 years of age.

This activity can be booked on the dates indicated in the calendar and is confirmed when at least 4 participants are reached, weather permitting.
Equipment and surfaces in contact with participants are hygienised according to the recommendations of the manufacturers of category 3 PPE.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is moderate. You get a full refund if you cancel within 8 days from the activity start date. Within 7 and 5 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
