If you love the mountains, enjoy skiing and want to be in close contact with nature, ski mountaineering is the right discipline for you: discover it with an approach day together with a Alpine Guide.
You'll learn sealskiing techniques and ski down the fresh snow and experience the adrenaline rush of the off-piste.
The backdrop to this adventure will be the extraordinary landscapes of the most beautiful locations in the Valtellina and adjacent valleys. Ready to go?
What we will do
The meeting point for the activity is set at 8:00 at the headquarters of the Alpine Guide in Caspoggio (SO). Once the group is formed (4 to 8 participants), we will move to the selected location for the ski mountaineering day. This will vary depending on the calendar and weather conditions, but will always be located in the Valtellina area or in adjacent valleys such as Valmalenco, Valchiavenna, Engadina or Orobie Valtellinesi.
On site, we will give an introductory lecture on ski mountaineering, learn about specific equipment and the basic rules of self-rescue using the probe, shovel and artva, tools necessary for any off-piste outing.
We will practise ascent techniques using sealskins, while for the descent we will tackle off-piste runs, experiencing the thrill of skiing in fresh, powdery snow.
The activity lasts a total of approximately 6 hours and includes a packed lunch.
.Who it is aimed at
This activity is open to anyone who would like to try ski mountaineering. No previous experience in the discipline is required, but you must be able to ski and have good familiarity with descents on red slopes. You can participate from the age of 14 years.

This activity can be booked on the dates indicated in the calendar and is confirmed when at least 4 participants are reached, weather permitting.
The ski touring equipment and the safety kit (probe, shovel and artva) are not included in the participation fee and can be rented at the respective extra cost of €30 and €10 (you can request the rental after booking).

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is moderate. You get a full refund if you cancel within 8 days from the activity start date. Within 7 and 5 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
