Enjoy a tour of great fascination and charm, retracing the steps of St. Francis of Assisi on board a carriage: an experience that will take you back in time!
You will visit the magical sites of Assisi and Rivotorto, and our local guides will take you on a journey through the history, culture, and traditions of a territory waiting to be discovered.
Transported by the horses, you will wander through the village's narrow streets, past churches, sanctuaries and iconic sites, in the shadow of Mount Subasio and the unspoilt nature of the Umbrian Apennines.
The walk will culminate with a visit of a wine cellar, followed by an excellent tasting of local wines and typical products.
What we will do
The appointment is set for 2pm in Rivotorto, a hamlet of Assisi (PG). We will be met by our guides, seated in the carriage and be ready to set off immediately.
The first stop on our tour will be the Sanctuary of St Francis, which houses a small structure called the Tugurio, which has gone down in history because it was the place where the Umbrian saint founded the Franciscan order.
Then we will proceed to a small church known to be the leper colony where Francis and Clare cured leprosy patients. Our next stop will be the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli and the Porziuncola, a symbolic place of Franciscan worship.
After this dive into history and religious architecture, it will be time to think about the palate and discover thefood and wine delights that Umbria has to offer. The carriage will then take us to a wine cellar where an excellent wine tasting will await us.
Before activating our taste buds, the owners will take us to visit the vineyards and cellars, explaining the difference between the various types of grapes and the processes of their production. Then we will sit down at the table to taste aselection of the best labels and typical local products.
After the convivial moment, we will be taken back to our starting point by horse-drawn carriage and we will say goodbye until the next adventure!

Beware! Please arrive at least 15 minutes early at the meeting point.
This activity can be done all year round, subject to weather conditions and the availability of guides.
The tour is private. Apart from the guides, there will only be you and the people you wish to take with you in the carriage. On request, you can arrange with your guide a different time than the one indicated on the schedule.
Each carriage can carry up to a maximum of 6 people. For groups of several participants, 2 carriages will be used. In order to comply with regulations for the containment of Covid-19 contagions, you may only travel in the same carriage only if you are together.

What happens in case of bad weather?
If you have made a fixed date reservation and the weather conditions are not suitable for carrying out the activity safely (according to the expert opinion of the guide), you will be refunded the full amount paid. The guide may suggest an alternative date or time for the activity. You are free to choose whether or not to accept these suggestions. If you are unable to reschedule, we will proceed with a full refund! If you have set the date of your Gift Voucher and bad weather has prevented the activity from taking place, the Voucher remains valid until the expiry date indicated on it.
If I cancel the reservation, can I get a full refund?
For this activity, the cancellation policy is flexible. You get a full refund if you cancel within 5 days from the activity start date. Within 4 and 3 days from the activity start date you will get a 50% refund. You can find the full policies in the Cancellation Policy section.
