Full description

Discover Irpinia and its lush, unspoilt greenery with an exciting via ferrata in Volturara, in the province of Avellino. Immerse yourself in the woods and enjoy an experience in contact with nature, climbing rock faces.

The via ferrata are the link between trekking and climbing. They consist of steps, bridges, cables and other artificial elements affixed to a wall to facilitate climbing. However, on the more demanding ferratas with less environmental impact, the artificial elements are reduced to a minimum and a good climbing technique is also required.

This via ferrata in Volturara Irpina consists of several routes ofdifferent levels of difficulty. You will be accompanied by a professional mountain guide who will know how best to guide you on this adventure, choosing the route that best suits your needs.

What we will do

We will meet in Volturara Irpina (AV)at 9:00. There we will meet the mountain guide and after a look around the characteristic village, we will have a briefing on the route and the safety regulations. With the help of the guide, we will learn how to use the equipment and master the techniques to be employed during the route.

The via ferrata begins just a few steps from the village, on the west face of Monte Costa, within the Regional Park of the Picentini Mountains. The trails meander between rocky ridges and forests rich in beech, chestnut and streams, in a perspective scenery that culminates with a view of the Piana del Dragone, a valley nestled between green-covered mountains, where rainwater and melting snow form a basin that is only visible at certain times of the year.

We will walk the via ferrata in about 4 hours, reaching a maximum of 850 m in altitude. The itinerary is variable and will be decided by the guide according to the participants' level of preparation. Despite the presence of steps, ladders, supports, cables and other contrivances that facilitate passage, one must be prepared to face some more challenging sections that require a certain muscular effort and tolerance for verticality and emptiness, so...do not suffer from vertigo!

In any case, with the support of the guide and the equipment, the route can be completed by anyone with a minimum of training and agility and a desire to experience strong sensations!
